Dracula, Elric, Silo
This month has been very quiet in terms of gaming sessions, as the summer holidays began in July in France; most players are away or spending time with family and friends—but not (always) around a role-playing game table!
What’s new at my gaming table?
We had to postpone the sessions of The Rise of the Drow campaign for D&D 5E (2014) as the group wasn’t complete, so no fight against the evil elves this month. Maybe next month?
I also tried to run a session of my open-table Shadowdark game, but with no results. Too few players were available and but we have already booked some time in August.
So I switch to writing for my fantasy setting and have fun designing the main kingdom, the neighboring West Marches and thinking about the different cultures and other lands of the continent. I’ve also marked the adventures I’ve already published on the map of the kingdom; it’s quite fun visually.
Readings
I finished the original Dracula novel and it was a great read. I thought it would be a bit outdated but (maybe thanks to the revised french translation) wasn’t. Then I switched to The Revenge of the Rose, the sixth volume of the Elric saga.
Movies/series
I got hooked on the Silo series: I watched all 10 episodes of the first season and am nearing the end of the second. That’s the perk of catching up on a show that’s already aired, though I’ll have to slow down now that the third season is there—one episode a week!
It might well inspire some ideas for the solo sessions of my Apocairn! role-playing game…
Video Games
Still casually in TESO, I just play from time to time and pick up ideas for my Shadowdark campaign setting (I’m fond of all the books that one can find in the game and will try to put some in the hands of the PCs).
Creations, tips, shop…
My Patreon page, featuring old-school/OSR dungeon maps is doing well, I drew a Bandits’ Hideout and the Wizard’s Arcanum. Some of my maps or adventures are free so you can always check my stuff if you want.

How are you finding Elric? I am slowly re-reading the whole saga and, well, it reads very differently compared to when I read (some, not all) the books as a kid! It feels very different. While some parts aged like wine, others... well, not so much. Curiously, I enjoy those as well. Memories are weird thing.
