Pathfinder 2E, Shadowdark, D&D, BRP
What's new at my gaming table?
We'll take the same old story and start again! Four game sessions this month, split evenly between Pathfinder 2E and Shadowdark.
The regular group continues to advance through the Abomination Vaults (PF2) campaign, exploring levels filled with ghouls who follow a strange cult. Disaster is never far away, with devious foes and a sprawling dungeon, but we're betting that caution and restraint will prevail...
My Shadowdark open table allowed for two exploration sessions of a fort occupied by several factions. Bandits and aggressive goblins are on the agenda, and here, players often exercise caution (when faced with a gelatinous cube, for example) or not (and trigger explosive traps!).
Latest articles published on the blog
As always, my posts are written in french but your browser may propose to translate them
For D&D players, the D&D 5.2024 SRD is available, and I've talked about it (and I'm hosting a copy too). This base allows you to create derivative games or get a large excerpt of the game rules.
I've started a few random dungeons with different generation rules, and my first article, Let's Create a Dungeon: Shadowdark, uses the rules of said Shadowdark, which are a bit too lax for my taste in this regard.
I ended up launching myself with the beginnings of the publication of my "homemade" fantasy universe, via a dedicated letter called the Kronicles of Kalendir (in french only, sorry!). I hope that this campaign world will be useful, these emails encourage me to compile the ideas that I noted here and there and to continue developing many other aspects.
So, my article Hexagons and practical cartography is linked to the previous one and deals with the difficulties of putting markers on a map, between fun theory (hexagons) and cartography that is more easily usable in my opinion (squares).
Finally, Chaosium has released a quickstart for its generic Basic Roleplaying: Universal Game Engine system, but it's pretty... basic (sorry) and ultimately pretty useless: no magic, no powers, no opponents. I still have in mind my other universe, that of Danae, with a mix of BRP and Mythras, which I would like to reactivate one day.

Readings and inspirations
Readings: After finishing Sojourn, the third volume of the trilogy of the dark elf Drizzt, I picked up volume 8 of the Malazan Book of the Fallen and read a french comic book, the first volume of Titans, with a Greco-Spartan inspiration. And started Hawkmoon, also in comics, a Moorcock saga that I would like to read in novels (after rereading Elric's, if I ever get started?).
Films & Series: nothing this month!
Creations, tips, shop…
Publications of the month
Nothing published this month (apart from what I wrote above about Kalendir, which is not nothing) but I did start the draft of a dungeon, the Monastery of the Howling Moon, inspired by my vacation in Greece and created a fairly large map of a plant labyrinth (the idea came from my visit to the Palace of Versailles!). Definitely, even on vacation, there is no rest, eh Raznag?
