Pathfinder 2E, Shadowdark, solo ttrpg…
What's new at my gaming table?
Abomination Vaults exploration has finally begun with my Pathfinder 2E group. Between facetious (and stupid) mitflits and giant maggots or flies, the group is making its way through the rubble of the ruined lighthouse. We were able to play 2 sessions this month.
Another game mastered, well almost, is (finally!) Shadowdark. I'd been wanting to try out this mix of D&D5 and OSR for a while. We had a first session of rules discovery and discussion, before getting down to business in February. In the meantime, I'm preparing a few solo adventures to test out character creation and the rules. By the way, the Quickstart rules are free in pdf.
Latest articles published on the blog
As always, my posts are written in french but your browser may propose to translate them
As every year since the blog's inception, I've taken stock of my annual ranting activity, articles and JDR creations.
I continue my nostalgic reading of AD&D modules with D2 Shrine of the Kuo-toa. We're getting close to the lair of those pesky drows, but in the meantime, we've got to face up to the civilization of the kuo-toas!
I'm starting the Otari adventure reports slowly, so as not to fall too far behind. I wrote about sessions 1 to 3, with the first part of the Pathfinder 2E beginners box.
And finally, I offer some food for thought and summarize my past research for my latest D&D5 campaign, Adventures in Phandalin - extending the campaign to go beyond the starter kit(s). So that's it for the articles relating to this river campaign, which ended after 67 play sessions, my longest to date.
Readings and inspirations
Readings: It's been a long time coming, but I've finally finished The Bonehunters, the sixth volume of Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. And since I'd never reviewed it, I took the opportunity to write my thoughts. I'm now rereading volume 7, Reaper's Gale, which I discovered in April 2024.
Films & Series: without any logic, I saw the very zany Superhero Movie and then the very serious (and a little too long) Oppenheimer!
Creations, tips, shop…
Publications of the month
Only one creation this month with Halls of the Hell Hunter, a little old-school dungeon with a “D&D blue” map that I redrew by hand, dissatisfied as I was with the result I was getting with computer tools.
Projects in progress
My other projects were put on hold due to business travel and fatigue, and my remaining free time was dedicated to gaming.
Last month, through several channels (blog, social networks, Patreon page), I asked my contacts which creations they wanted me to favor: battlemaps, dungeons, longer adventures? Despite the few answers, alas, the trend was towards (one-page?) dungeons or adventures. So I'm going to put the battlemaps on hold, or at least, I'm going to accompany them with a more detailed description.
