The end of the month already? Where did the time go?
What's new at my gaming table?
Three sessions this month, all with the same system, namely Delta Green refereed by my deceitful and sadistic friend Onos ;-) Having (more or less) solved a drug case that was literally making its users disappear, our little team of FBI agents must now investigate a biologist whose body has melted away - well, except for one hand and his feet. In total disorder and improvisation, I bet we'll solve this case again (my character, Agent Sanchez, won't hesitate to shoot anything that gets in his way, which solves a lot of problems...).
As for game preparation, I'm well behind schedule, but I'm making good progress on a Traveller one-shot, and I'm reading the Pathfinder 2 rules for a long campaign, Abominations Vault. If all goes well, this will be done by the end of June, but my professional activity keeps me busy too, and I don't always have the courage or energy to spend my evenings preparing!
Latest articles published on the blog
As always, my posts are written in french but there is a translation widget on the blog
I've finally published the final level of my mega-dungeon, The Fortress of Grim Peak! This project was part of the #dungeon23 challenge, which I should have completed in 2023. Anyway, despite the delay, I'm happy (and relieved) to have reached the end of these 12 months and more than fifteen levels of dungeons! Now I'm aiming to get it all back into shape, revise the maps and descriptions of the hundreds of rooms and publish everything in a single document. No deadline, but I'd like to finish by the end of the year.
I'm continuing the reports on my previous D&D campaign, Adventures in Phandalin, with sessions 42 to 46 (out of 67). I hope it's of use to someone, but I'll get to the end gradually. Having finished the initiation kits, I made a mix of several different sources to advance my story.
Readings and inspirations
Readings: while I thought I'd quickly reread the first few volumes of Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen, I actually went back to it, as the content is so rich and requires careful reading. As a result, Gardens of the Moon and Deadhouse Gates occupied my evenings (1500 pages in large format) and you can find my reviews on my blog. I'm also a contributor to the french malazan Wiki!
Video games: I'm still quietly making my way through Assassin's Creed Origins. Pyramid exploration and well-concealed secrets are on the agenda, which is funny because this month I visited an exhibition on Egypt in virtual reality, and I was not disoriented!
TV series: I enjoyed finishing the Fallout series, and although the pace was rather strange and slow in the middle, it ended on a high note. All that's left now is to wait for season 2. In June, House of the Dragon returns, and of course, I'll be there.
Creations, tips, shop…
Publications of the month
Two new creations this month, starting with Forest Altar, a map more suited to horrific games such as Call of Cthulhu. A stone altar erected in the forest, a portal opening - what could go wrong? It's available in 8 versions on DrivethruRPG or Ko-fi.
Second creation, a free One Page Dungeon, The Throne of the Scorpion Lord, tha I have yet to translate in english. Soon!
Current projects
I still have to finish a little fantasy adventure, I'm not getting anywhere!
There's going to be a nice update to the Dungeon Alchemist software, so I may be inspired by a few maps...
