Due to the players' vacations and my imminent move, I've had and will be having less or no time for ttrpg hobby this summer. But here's a look back at the month of July!
Latest articles published on the blog
As always, my posts are written in french but there is a translation widget on the blog
Three articles this month, starting with the promised Dungeon23 challenge article and the level 6 of my megadungeon!
I've found a village generator that is easy and simple to use, so I've shared it with you, as this kind of tool always helps out during a game or when preparing a campaign.
Finally, for a change from D&D, I mentioned an old Call of Cthulhu french supplement, the translation of Sandy Petersen's Field Guide to the Lovecraftian Horror, which can be found easily and at a fair price on the second-hand market. It's more of a game aid or an artbook than a bestiary, and you can easily draw inspiration from it for other horrific adventures outside CoC.
What's new at my gaming table?
A single game this month, still for my Adventures in Phandalin campaign for D&D, which is not finished and will therefore be concluded in the autumn. The adventurers are now lost in other planes and will have to explore my version of the Temple of the Elemental Evil!
For the more distant future, if I may say so, I've received my crowdfunding for Chroniques Oubliées Galactiques, a french game system based on D&D 3.5. I'll play it one day, I'll play it...
Readings and inspirations
I've finished the two volumes of Soldiers Live, and with them Glen Cook's Black Company cycle. It's been quite a ride over the last year and a half, with its ups and downs, so maybe I'll do a review one day (technically, I've already reviewed the first seven volumes!).
On the comics front, I'm continuing my reading of Marvel's Dark Avengers on my superhero blog. And I've read the three volumes of the excellent Blade Runner 2029 series, which extends the universe of the films.
Issue 23 of d12 Monthly is dedicated to towns and cities. Several random tables, colorful NPCs and a place to use in a scenario and a medfan city. A good complement to my urban encounter generator (yet to be translated in english).
Bifrost is a french sci-fi (mostly) and fantasy (sometimes) quarterly magazine. This time, issue 111 is mostly about Gene Wolfe, but his short story inside didn’t appeal to me.
Creations, tips, shop…
Publications of the month
Just one creation this month, with the battlemap for The Island of the Forgotten Hero, taken from my adventure for Cairn (The Necropolis of the Krâal Pass). It's available for free, well as Pay What You Want, on my Ko-fi page so enjoy!
Current projects
August will be devoted to my move, and I'll be trying to find my belongings, my role-playing games and an Internet connection, so I'm putting everything else on hold!
As a result, levels 7 and 8 of the megadungeon will be drawn but not described, and I hope to make up for that in September.
