#020en - march 2023 TTRPG newsletter
Welcome to this letter which is a bit special as it celebrates the anniversary of my mailings! The first months, I was writing two newsletters before a survey told me that one was enough for the readers, so it's now my usual frequency and I hope it suits you.
For the occasion, I give you some little gifts : see below...
Latest articles published on the blog
These posts are in french but a translation widget in the sidebar allows you to read them in your language.
Having been out of town and sick for part of the month, there were fewer posts this time than I had anticipated.
First of all, I published in this article the level 2 (and 2bis) of the megadungeon in the Dungeon23 challenge. As usual, my drawings are online and a redone version with the Dungeondraft software too. You can find it all on my (french) itch.io page, with a post that centralizes the project and its files.
In a few days, levels 3 and 3bis of the megadungeon will be published on the blog, to follow...
In the second article, I continued the account of my D&D campaign, Adventures in Phandalin, with the exploits of the (then) newbie heroes. This time, the adventurers move away from the village and explore the surrounding areas and the communities that inhabit it.
Third and last article, I discuss the "Everything is Lava" update of one of my favorite software for drawing battlemaps, Dungeon Alchemist.
What's new at my gaming table?
As usual, my main activity is my campaign for D&D, Adventures in Phandalin. The adventurers have narrowly defeated the Cult of Myrkul in Leilon and the Mere of the Dead Men and (temporarily?) removed all danger from the Sword Coast. Their tribulations have led them to accept a mission from an ancient green dragon, and they now head to the Dessarin Valley, where more adversaries await to ravage the region. No rest for the heroes!
This time I'm really done with the two starter kits and their expansions (after more than 50 sessions, anyway!), so I'm mixing elements from other official supplements and my own creations, hopefully with some winks that will be spotted a bit later. And we're heading towards the end of the campaign in a few months.
I had planned a small Call of Cthulhu game with a sunny adventure (!) but I had to postpone it, I will play it soon.
Readings and inspirations
I'm still slowly working my way through Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen, volume 6. I also read The Dunwich Horror, H.P. Lovecraft's masterpiece in a version illustrated by french artist François Baranger, which perfectly captures the Master's atmosphere (I have his previous books, one of which is signed, it is always a pleasure to look at his superb works).
As for the TV series, I finished the first season of The Last of Us and I liked the interactions between the characters, more than the sometimes too classical scenario.
Patreon, tips, shop…
My supporters on Ko-fi have early access to the map of the small fantasy village they voted for. It will be available to the public in a few days.
I also published on DrivethruRPG a One Page Dungeon, The Tomb of the Black Knight, and the battlemap of a small and sinister outpost...
