As a foreword, I would like to announce that I have decided to change the frequency of publication of this newsletter. I had recently made a poll and the majority of the voters were for this choice, rather than for a mail every two weeks as before. You will now find the newsletter in your mailbox on the last day of each month (except for specials and emergencies, of course!).
Latest articles published on the blog
I have three articles published this month. The first one is a preview of the Dungeon Alchemist software update that I often use for my battlemaps. Called Fata Morgana, this one focuses on the desert and the corresponding habitats. It's a lot of fun to build tent cities in the desert, in the middle of the dunes and cacti. But it has also many interface improvements, including a 3D view and screenshots and video.
The next one was a rather classic One Page Dungeon with the Mad Mage's Den, a small adventure to play on a short session. Monsters, traps and a few surprises are on the menu.
And finally, I continue the reports of my (now stopped) Adventures in Middle-Earth campaign with this time adventurers who explore the Trollshaws and find themselves, somewhat unwillingly, in Rivendell!
What's new at my gaming table?
My D&D campaign, Adventures in Phandalin, continues with two sessions this month, the 39th and 40th! Not far from the Mere of the Dead Men, the adventurers are interested in the Iniarv’s Tower, which belonged to the wizard who created the swamp. Infiltration, direct attack? How to attack the strong party entrenched in this bastion? And what are the many undead doing here?
Readings and inspirations
Not much fantasy or scifi readings, but I go on with The Dark Company cycle again: I'm making progress with volume 8 (She is the Darkness, part 1). Epic battles and sorcery abound in this volume.
On the roleplaying side, I had subscribed to a Kickstarter from LaidbackDM and picked up two issues of Shotglass Rounds, with a campaign background and a (mega)dungeon starter called Duumhaven that will span several issues. Reading is underway.
I also picked up a compilation of mad scientist-themed traps and puzzles by Skald of Shenanigans. I'll be talking ideas there for some forthcoming adventures!
Supporters, TTRPG content, shop…
Only one new release this month with a battlemap of a Haunted House (perfect for a Halloween game) but you can also look at my Creepy Cabin in the Woods (discounted as part of the Halloween Sales of DriveThruRPG) and find my portfolio on my Carrd page.
This month, I plan to improve one of my previous short adventures and publish another battlemap, while working on a Forgotten Realms supplement! You can discuss this with me on my Discord if you like (invitation link below).
