And this is the last newsletter of July, with vacations starting for me. But don't worry, this newsletter won't stop during the summer!
Latest articles published on the blog
I’m blogging in french but there is a translation widget on the blog that can allow you to understand most of the content!
I've been catching up on some of the articles I've been meaning to post on the blog, including writing about a medieval-fantasy inn or tavern generator I found online that's pretty nice and well done.
I then read and reviewed the Call of Cthulhu scenario collection Doors to Darkness, which I will be using for some one-shots this summer.
Then I resumed reporting on my little campaign for Adventures in Middle-earth (powered by D&D 5) with a departure from Bree and a stop at The Forsaken Inn.
And finally, I published a small adventure: The Bugbear God’s Temple, a One Page Dungeon for D&D or any other fantasy game available on DriveThruRPG as well as some of my previous scenarios.
What's new at my gaming table?
After some personal worries or family occupations that kept me away from the gaming tables for several weeks, I was able to resume my Adventures in Phandalin (D&D) campaign with the exploration of a haunted necropolis (available for free in my ko-fi shop) and then of an abandoned mine in the surroundings of Leilon, on the Sword Coast. And the heroes are now level 7.
My other campaign is Adventures in Eriador (AiME) and this time, the little group is heading north, to the Ettenmoors and the borders of Angmar in order to understand what the orcs are up to there . Chilly atmosphere and stone trolls are on the agenda!
Readings and inspirations
As said above, I have read the Call of Cthulhu scenario collection Doors to Darkness and dedicated an article to it, I recommend this book.
I've started reading the PDFs coming from the crowdfunding for Creatures: Complete Monster Compendium 2 (Netherworld) (again powered by Fateforge/D&D). The illustrations are great and so far, the bestiary is inspiring me for future adventures.
Wizards has released an Unearthed Arcana titled "Wonders of the Multiverse" about extra-planar creatures, glitchlings, winged androids half-man half-machine, a subclass of Cleric (Fate), 21 new Feats (!) based on elements or divination and four backgrounds on the theme of giants, runes and planes, and 5 new spells! Phew, what a program... and rumors of Sigil's arrival in the near future? This article details a little bit more this copious menu.
I still have in the back of my mind the idea of exploring the World of Greyhawk one day, and its (unofficial) adaptation to 5th edition could be the opportunity. 460 pages for the Player's Guide to Greyhawk Rebooted, that's pretty cool (especially since Wizards doesn't seem to really care about the setting...).
And finally, on the scifi and fantasy reading side, I finally finished a Star Wars novel about Thrawn, and I'm still reading H.P. Lovecraft's Dreamlands.
Patreon, tips, shop…
I mentioned above a new One Page Dungeon, The Bugbear God’s Temple, which is available on DriveThruRPG. And I've uploaded a premium version with many more features, including the source file, in my Ko-fi shop.
