Welcome to the new issue of my roleplaying newsletter, with a lot of news this time.
Latest articles published on the blog
I’m blogging in french but there is a translation widget on the blog that can allow you to understand most of the content!
Since the last issue, I published an article about the starter rules for MEGA, a french mythical game first published in the magazine Casus Belli, which is now in its fifth edition. I'm not fully convinced by the system but the game has potential with the different universes that you can discover.
I have also started to publish reports of my campaign in Eriador (D&D - Adventures in Middle Earth), we begin the exploration of the region from the city of Bree. And of course, it all starts in a tavern. Not just any tavern, since it's the Prancing Pony! Read more here. I had fun by picking up ideas in the Lord of the Rings Online MMORPG.
Soon, I'll tell you about the sci-fi game Traveller and I'm preparing an article on suggestions for the D&D mini-campaign, the Lost Mine of Phandelver.
What's new at my gaming table?
In my Adventures in Phandalin (D&D) campaign, heroes encounter an evil force that wants to ravage the Sword Coast by stranding ships at the foot of the Tower of Storms. But an undead attack on an inn along the Great Road may be hiding something else...
Meanwhile, in Middle-Earth (D&D - ATM), a mission of Lord Elrond sends some daring people to the north of the Trollshaws, towards the collapsed citadel of Cameth Brin. It's in ruins, but not unoccupied, and exploring it is going to be dangerous! This time, it is the ttrpg ancestor MERP which served me as inspiration.
As an innovation, I'm preparing a one-shot for Call of Cthulhu to change a bit of universe and game system. Just an old house to explore, what could go wrong?
Readings and inspirations
I've subscribed to a crowdfunding for a 5E-compatible bestiary, for the Fateforge (in french, Dragons) game. Creatures: Complete Monster Compendium 2, inhabitants of the Netherworld, that's its name, will also come with scenarios and game aids to explore the underworld and should be generic enough to be used in any 5E fantasy universe. Which is good timing, since I'm still planning to do an Underdark campaign, taking elements from several adventures, including Out of the Abyss (D&D). The book looks great and the launch is still going on over here (there is also an french version, and both crowdfundings help each other to reach the various goals).
Another crowdfunding (in french only, sorry guys!) is Chroniques Oubliées Galactiques by Black Book Editions. I had already adopted CO Contemporary, even if I haven't played it yet, and read the rules of "Galactiques" published in several issues of the Casus Belli magazine. This time, they will be revised, corrected and compiled in a thick book with lots of bonuses. A campaign and a collection of scenarios are also planned. The financing is over (it lasted only one week) but the late pledge is still available.
I'd like to announce the release of the D12 monthly magazine, this time dedicated to solo roleplaying. I haven't read it yet but you can find it here and it's still free!
Looking for an ultra-detailed map of Faerun (well, the western part) with pointers to locations and places to visit? The Forgotten Realms Fandom site has just what you need right here!
